Britain steps up effort to evacuate Britons from Sudan

The Prime Minister chaired an emergency meeting of COBRA as efforts continue to evacuate Britons trapped by the fighting in Sudan.

Any evacuations have been complicated by the breakdown of a 72-hour Eid ceasefire.

One Briton in Khartoum told Sky News she was "numb with fear" and the area she was staying in had been "shelled to shreds".
