Pupils face return to remote learning amid fears over unsafe concrete

Dozens of schools face disruption or closure just as term is about to start over fears about the potential dangers of concrete used in some buildings.

In Scotland, 35 schools have now been identified as containing Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) - along with 104 institutions in England.

It is unclear how many will have to close entirely, but schools minister Nick Gibb has insisted that in most cases "just a few buildings" or rooms within the affected schools will have to shut.
