Conservative peer and pollster Lord Hayward joined Sky News to discuss issues the government may face in their bid to retain power in the next general election.

He said HS2 is currently a "key issue", but by the time the election comes, the economy and inflation will "influence people's overall voting patterns".

More generally, he said: "Britain doesn't do major infrastructure projects very well. They all run grotesquely over budget and they all run late."
