Former joint operational commander in the British Armed Forces Ash Alexander-Cooper said "communication is particularly difficult" in Sudan right now, as he warned that if people did not receive the message "in time" they may be "left behind".

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has confirmed the UK is coordinating an evacuation of British nationals from Sudan earlier today.
