'Sorry to lose' eight Labour frontbenchers, says shadow minister

John Healey, Labour's shadow defence minister, has said he is "sorry to lose each and every one" of the frontbenchers who resigned to vote in favour of backing a ceasefire in Israel and Gaza.

More than a quarter of Labour MPs voted against Sir Keir Starmer, and eight frontbenchers resigned from their roles.

Mr Healey said: "I understand the backbenchers wanting to reflect the calls from their constituents. The small number of frontbenchers who resigned, I'm sorry to lose each and every one of them."
