Sophy Ridge has spoken with Keir Starmer, the leader of the UK Labour Party, about the upcoming local elections.

Starmer is cautiously optimistic about his party's chances but acknowledges that the baseline for the Conservative Party is very low, after their "disastrous showing" in the 2019 local elections.

He also addresses concerns about narrowing poll leads and the ongoing nurses' strike. While he does not want to see the strike go ahead, he believes the government has "mishandled the situation" and that the way to avoid strikes is to engage in dialogue and address the underlying issues.
