Scot Peterson, the former resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was acquitted of felony child neglect and other charges for failing to act during the 2018 Parkland school shooting. Peterson is the first law enforcement officer put on trial for conduct during an school shooting.
17 people were killed, including students and staff, during the shooting on Feb. 14, 2018.
Former Stoneman Douglas student Nikolas Cruz was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing 17 people in the mass shooting.
