Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be tried as a war criminal over the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip, Turkey's president Tayyip Erdogan has said.

In a speech to a meeting of an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) committee in Istanbul, Mr Erdogan said: "Beyond being a war criminal, Netanyahu, who is the butcher of Gaza right now, will be tried as the butcher of Gaza, just as Milosevic was tried."

Turkey supports a two-state solution to the decades-old conflict.
