Labour: Pat McFadden hails 'fantastic results' in Wellingborough and Kingswood by-elections

Labour's national campaign co-ordinator Pat McFadden MP has hailed the party's “fantastic results” in the Wellingborough and Kingswood by-elections - but says that the "real test is to come later this year” in a general election.

The party won support for its ideas, Mr McFadden said - which included changing planning laws to boost housing, help the environment with the "green transition" and a new state-owned GB Energy to "get economy moving again".

He denied any "embarrassment" for initially supporting Azhar Ali, who Labour withdrew support for over comments the councillor apparently made about Israel and Jewish people.
