When asked about Labour "likely" scrapping its free university tuition fees pledge, shadow levelling up minister Alex Norris said: "As you know, Sophy, that took place in what, spring 2019.

"Since then we have had two years of a global pandemic, we’ve had war on the continent of Europe, we’ve had the Tories crash the economy so the equation is slightly different."
