The Government has admitted it is willing to reject public sector pay rises set by independent pay review bodies, if they risk prolonging high levels of inflation.

The stance set out by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, John Glen, will infuriate workers and unions, but is far from the only economic challenge facing the government.
