Crown actor James Murray condemns Southern Water over raw sewage pumped into river

Actor James Murray has said it is "unforgivable" that Southern Water has allowed raw sewage to flow into a protected river during heavy rainfall.

The environmental campaigner, who portrayed Prince Andrew in the hit drama The Crown, said the water company should have invested in its infrastructure long ago to prevent its sewers being overwhelmed by extreme weather.

Instead, sewage has been allowed to pour into the River Test, a chalk stream in Hampshire which is one of the rarest habitats on Earth.
