Britain has thousands of abandoned coal mines that have flooded over time with the water being warmed up by the Earth's core.

Gateshead has become the first place in the country to tap into that geothermal energy source and is using it to provide affordable heat to hundreds of homes and businesses.

Could mine water help warm Britain?
