Public and some private sector workers in Greece are walking off their jobs in a nationwide 24-hour strike that's expected to disrupt public transport, leave ferries tied up in ports, and ground some flights.

Public sector doctors and teachers are also joining the strike called by unions over a wide range of demands.

The strike has been timed to coincide with the first anniversary of Greece's worst rail disaster.
