High temperatures and parched ground have sparked fires in countries on both sides of the Mediterranean.

Thousands have been forced to flee from Sicily and Puglia, while in recent days twenty thousand people have had to leave their homes and holiday resorts on the Greek Islands of Rhodes and Corfu.

Firefighters continue to try and contain the flames in Rhodes, but some residents have taken matters into their own hands. Our Europe correspondent, Siobhan Robbins reports.
