White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre briefed journalists, as Hurricane Idalia is due to hit Florida in the early hours of Wednesday, putting 14 million people there at risk.

Also, a gunman who shot dead three black people in a "racially motivated" attack in Florida on Sunday has been named.
