In China, pandas are valuable diplomatic tools and the country has a long history of gifting pandas to zoos around the world, with the practice dating as far back as the 7th century.

China now appears to be bringing this gesture of trust to an end and this may reflect spiralling international relations with the West - as Sky's Helen-Ann smith reports.
