The US has begun a wave of retaliatory airstrikes targeting militants in Iraq and Syria, officials have told the Associated Press, Reuters and our partner network NBC News.

The strikes come in response to a drone attack in Jordan that killed three US troops and injured some 40 others on Sunday.
