Watch live: Israel-Hamas war latest - Gaza 'will run out of power within hours'

Live shot of Gaza’s skyline as the latest official number from the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) says 1,200 Israelis have been killed since Saturday's Hamas incursion, with a further 2,700 injured.

The Gaza Strip's only power plant and only current provider of electricity will run out of fuel "within hours", according to the Palestinian energy authority chairman.

Thafer Melhem made the comments to the Voice of Palestine radio amid a "total siege" enforced by Israel, which seeks to limit power, food and water to the entire Gaza Strip.

As a result of unrelenting retaliatory Israeli strikes on Gaza, around 900 Palestinians have been killed, with 4,500 wounded.
