The general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, Pat Cullen, says it is "clear there will be an impact" by the strikes but "it is an impact that can be stopped by the government if they were to get round the table".

She answered questions on Sky's Sophy Ridge on Sunday as nurses get ready to stage a 28-hour walkout over pay.
