Undercover police report: The Met apologises for spies' 'abhorrent' sexual relationships

The Metropolitan Police has apologised after a report found its undercover deployments into activist groups were unjustified.

The inquiry looked at the conduct of 139 undercover officers and found that male police spies formed sexual relationships and fathered children with female activists from left-wing groups, who didn't know their true identities.

Met Police Commander Jon Savell says the activities of these officers were "abhorrent" and managers should have known what was going on and stopped it.
