A United Nations Security Council vote on a bid to create "conditions for sustainable cessation of hostilities,” and on speeding up delivery of aid to Gaza has been passed.

The 15-member council agreed on the resolution drafted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the US, which holds veto power, won changes it wanted on the resolution.

Russia and the US both abstained to allow the vote to pass.
