UN report reveals nations are falling short on climate change goals

Countries are not doing enough in order to stop the world warming by 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, a United Nations report has warned.

To meet that target - regarded as crucial to stave off the more dangerous impacts of climate change - emissions of greenhouse gases that heat the climate need to fall by almost half by 2030.

However, today's assessment finds that in 2030, emissions will in fact have increased by 9%, compared with emissions in 2010.
