The IDF says it has entered the "heart" of Khan Younis in southern Gaza but the UN has warned of "apocalyptic" conditions.

The organisation says there are few places for people to shelter from fighting and little access to fresh water and food.

Israel believes Hamas leaders are hiding in tunnels under the city and are intensifying its campaign to find them.
