Former government minister and strident Boris Johnson ally Andrea Jenkyns, who has consistently defended him against allegations of wrongdoing, joined Trevor Phillips on Sophy Ridge on Sunday.

Asked if Mr Johnson is not responsible for any wrongdoing at all, Ms Jenkyns said: "I think if anything, Boris has probably been too trusting."

She added: "They need to leave Boris alone now. Carrie's heavily pregnant - just leave this alone."
