Labour's Thangam Debbonaire has sharply criticised Thames Water and the industry regulator, Ofwat, for the uncertainty over the water supplier's financial solvency.

The shadow leader of the House said: "It's an atrocious situation where 15 million people, that's a quarter of the UK's population, is waking up today not knowing if they actually have a water company to provide them with clean water or not."
