Nicola Sturgeon has said she could not have imagined "in her worst nightmares" the controversy engulfing the SNP as she denied it was the reason she stepped down.

In her first appearance at Holyrood since her husband, former party Chief Executive was arrested in connection with a probe into the party's finances, Ms Sturgeon addressed the turmoil.
