State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed at a news briefing that U.S. citizens were among the first foreign nationals to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing at the border with Egypt earlier on Wednesday. It remains unclear how many of at least 400 U.S. citizens the State Department says are stuck in Gaza would be able to leave in the coming days.
