Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey visits Somerset and Frome after his party won the seat following Conservative MP David Warburton's departure. In North Yorkshire, Labour sealed their largest-ever by-election win in the Selby and Ainsty by-election and the Conservatives held onto Boris Johnson's former seat in Uxbridge and Ruislip.

Sarah Dyke, who lives in the Somerton and Frome constituency that she will now represent, has said her farming family can trace their local roots back more than 250 years.

Speaking after his party's win, Davey said: "Sarah Dyke will be an incredible local champion for the people of Somerset who have been neglected for far too long.

"She will fight for stronger local health services, better access to GPs, and a fair deal for rural communities during this cost of living crisis. The people of Somerton and Frome have spoken for the rest of the country who are fed up with Rishi Sunak’s out-of-touch Conservative government."
