Wednesday marks one year since a school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, claimed the lives of 19 elementary school students and two teachers. As members of the community continue to grieve and advocate for an end to gun violence, journalist Maria Hinojosa says Uvalde has a lesser-known history of activism and that its legacy as one of the birthplaces of the Southwestern Chicano/a/x movement has carried its response in this moment of tragedy.
