US President Joe Biden has called for Gaza's biggest hospital to be protected, after the World Health Organisation said the al Shifa hospital was no longer able to function.

A second hospital, al Quds, has ceased operations with preparations made to evacuate 6,000 people - according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Israel claimed it killed 21 Hamas fighters who were shooting at its forces near the hospital.
