The government also announced an "upfront payment" of £75,000 which will be made available to hundreds of postmasters. It is not clear in what form or on what timetable the new bill will be presented.

More than 700 sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses were prosecuted for accounting errors relying on data from the faulty Horizon software as Sky’s Beth Rigby reports.
