The prime minister has spoken to broadcasters after the news that the UK economy has contracted by 0.1% in the three months from September to July.

When asked about what happened to his pledge to grow the economy, Mr Sunak replied:

"Compared to the predictions at the beginning of the year, the economy has done better, and we've actually grown faster than our European neighbours like Germany, for example."
