Former Assistant Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland Dr Stephen White has told Sky's Kay Burley "the optimism of the period just after the Good Friday Agreement has been replaced with a degree of pessimism" in Northern Ireland.

Dr White pointed to the "dissident threat", the recent attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell and the recovery of pipe bombs at the weekend.
