Former Royal Navy Warfare officer Rear Admiral Chris Parry has said that it stretches credibility that underwater sounds picked up by a military aircraft could have come from the missing Titan submersible.

He stressed the situation has reached a critical point, with the rescue effort including a "real concentration of seabed operations and salvage vessels" in the Titanic wreck area.
