Speaking to Sky's Beth Rigby on 20 March, Nicola Sturgeon said the police probe played no part in her resigning as Scotland's first minister.

The former SNP leader has now been arrested in connection with an investigation into the party's finances.

Former party chief executive Peter Murrell - who is also Ms Sturgeon's husband - was detained by police on 5 April but subsequently released without charge.
