US Attorney General Merrick Garland confirms officers have arrested Jack Teixeira in connection with its probe and charged with unauthorised removal of classified national defence information.

The 21-year-old was taken into custody by FBI agents "without incident" and he will have an initial appearance in court, Mr Garland added.
