The King has gone into hospital for prostate treatment, Buckingham Palace has said.

He was admitted for a scheduled procedure at the London Clinic - the same hospital where his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, is staying after undergoing abdominal surgery.

It is understood the monarch shared details of his diagnosis to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to seek medical advice.
