Historic rainfall levels prompted a Flash Flood Emergency in western Kentucky, including the town of Mayfield, Wednesday as storms continue to batter the region.

More than 11 inches of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours near Mayfield in Graves County, according to the National Weather Service. That would set a new state record for rainfall in a 24-hour period. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency over the widespread flooding.

"Please pray for Mayfield and areas of western Kentucky impacted by significant flooding from last night's storms," Gov. Beshear said.
