In the city of Wajima in Japan, tremors from the earthquake sparked a fire that destroyed entire blocks of traditional houses, leaving several dead.

Sky's Helen-Ann Smith says people were given a tsunami warning, which meant "lots of people took refuge on the higher floors of buildings" to get away and "ended up losing their lives".
