Hillel was in the U.S. when he learned about the Hamas attack on Israel earlier this month, which included the deaths of 1,300 people.

The Israeli soldier quickly traveled back to Israel to defend his country. When he arrived at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv at 2:30 in the morning, he was greeted by a large crowd there to cheer him on.

The video of the encounter has circulated all over social media.

Hillel is on the frontlines as Israel is at war with Hamas. The death toll from the war stands at more than 4,000 and is only expected to rise as the fighting continues.
