Israel has 'more or less' secured border communities near Gaza, IDF spokesman

Israel's military says it has re-established control of its communities on the Gaza periphery. Earlier reports indicated that as many as eight areas were still contested between Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and Hamas militants.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht suggested that fighting had been limited to two areas, but was unable to confirm whether Israelis were still being killed by Hamas troops in southern Israel.
