Defence secretary Grant Shapps tells Sky News about the "deterrent" and "humanitarian" roles of UK military assets that have been deployed to the Middle East.

Mr Shapps said that the move is both symbolic and practical, adding that the UK does have warships in the region "if we needed to divert them" for other reasons.
