Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have held a joint news conference in Tel Aviv, following a surprise incursion by Hamas which prompted a retaliatory attack by Israel.

Mr Blinken said he "comes before you not only as US Secretary of State - but also as a Jew" and reiterated the country's support for Israel.
