Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Gaza would be demilitarized and Israel would maintain control following the war in Gaza. He rejected the indication that the Palestinian Authority would gain any control of Gaza after war. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United State opposes an Israeli reoccupation of Gaza and pushed for a unified Palestinian government in Gaza and the West Bank. Netanyahu said a cease-fire would only be possible if all 239 hostages were released.
