Shadow economic secretary to the treasury Tulip Siddiq has said "if we get into a situation where all the hostages are released, and aid is given into Gaza, then it really feels like this horrible nightmare is sort of coming to an end".

Ms Siddiq said "ultimately there's got to be an end to this" and she hopes there is "no escalation of violence at the end".
