For the second time in less than a month the volcano near the small fishing town of Grindavik - on the southwestern side of Iceland - has rumbled to life.

Two volcanic fissures opened north of the town breaching defensive walls, and are putting nearby settlements at risk according to the Icelandic Met Office.
