Former channel 5 chief executive David Elstein told Sky News he feels "immensely" sorry for Huw Edwards and called for the BBC's probe into him to be immediately dropped.

Mr Elstein was critical of the unit which launched an internal investigation into Mr Edwards, describing it as "sinister".
