As human rights advocates around the world speak out against Uganda’s new law targeting LGBTQ people for potential life imprisonment and capital punishment, human rights activist Pepe Onziema reminds Americans that homophobia in Uganda is heavily influenced by the work of U.S. Christian evangelists, who bring anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and policy suggestions to Africa and cause LGBTQ people to "end up as collateral damage."
