Sir Keir Starmer's speech yesterday sounded very much like one given by a leader who is serious about wanting to win the next general election.

And it has taken a long time to get to this stage, according to the man himself, after Labour's last election loss in 2019.

Sir Keir told Beth: "I was very pleased, I knew what I needed to do.

"I've been wanting to give that speech for four years, I've been invited to give it many times.
